7:30 AM - 9:00 AM - Registration

9:00 AM 12:00 PM - Common Skin Conditions Encountered in the Clinic

Class Description:
Let’s face it. We didn’t get a lot of information about skin diseases in school. And learning about skin diseases “on the job” is crazy stressful and potentially dangerous. We will discuss the most common bacterial and fungal skin diseases encountered in the massage clinic.

Each condition is demonstrated visually by multiple PowerPoint® slides of patients with skin disease. Diseases are discussed with reference to signs/symptoms, contraindications to massage, and last but not least, what should we do with a client that has a contagious skin disease?  No – “run from the room” is the wrong answer.

Join us in this fun, interesting, and sometimes “intriguingly gross” class!

$35.00 Members

$45.00 Non-members

Maximum of 70 participants

12:00 PM - 2:00 PM - Business Lunch and Awards

Election results will be announced. The 2018/2019 Budget will be presented and any questions answered. Committee Chairs will present on their committee activities and volunteer opportunities.

Lunch is included, however you must register for lunch.

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Beware of bugs! How to deal with infestations in your clinic

Class Description:
Do you know what to do when a client has lice or scabies? No -- don’t call the CDC. Attend this class and learn the answer! We will discuss which clients are most at risk for infestation, how these critters invade our environment and transfer to humans, signs/symptoms, photos of patients’ skin (bug burrows and bites), massage contraindications, and methods for clinic cleanup when accidental infestation occurs.

Join our lively discussion and learn about bugs – itching is guaranteed!

$35.00 Non-members

4:00 PM - 6:00 PM - Snacks and Networking / End of Day
