House Bill 2291

After careful consideration, AMTA-WA has decided to support this legislation.

While AMTA-WA would prefer not to have LMTs and reflexologists singled out in this way—the reality is that the trafficking issue is not going away—and this seemed like the least problematic alternative to other suggestions that have been made to include restrictions on hours of operation, signage, etc.

It's important to remember, in years past, it was common to include a licensee’s picture. But the Department of Health has moved away from pictures, as its credentialing functions have shifted to on-line.

In supporting HB 2291, AMTA-WA intends to ask the Legislature for state funds to pay for the additional costs associated with adding pictures.

AMTA-WA Board and AMTA National believes that we must take a strong stand in opposition to trafficking and be willing to do our part. We must assist law enforcement in their efforts as well.

We must move past this mindset that we are the only profession and be prepared – as a group – to take a firm stand, be pro-active and do our part to fight trafficking.
